Hal Dietz is a Professor in the Department of Genetic Medicine and an Investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute who has dedicated his career to the care and study of people with vascular connective tissue disorders including Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and Shprintzen-Goldberg syndrome. His lab has identified the genes for many of these conditions and has led efforts to unravel the underlying disease mechanisms and, in that manner, to reveal new treatment strategies. Dr. Dietz serves on the Professional Advisory Boards of the Marfan syndrome and Loeys-Dietz syndrome Foundations and has been a consistent contributor to initiatives focused upon patient education and advocacy.
